“See, I have appointed you this day over the nations and over the kingdoms, To uproot and break down, To destroy and to overthrow, To build and to plant.”
~Jeremiah 1:10 AMP
EDITOR’S NOTE:
In updating my new writing blog, I wanted to share some of my archived content. Originally published as a Facebook post on April 6, 2020, this third installment of Our Urban Garden series reminds believers of the various seasons we experience in our lives. The lilac beautifully reveals that when all is barren and lost, God has a surprise waiting for us—a season of resurrection and new life!
Enjoy! -Mica

During my writing break, I decided to step outside and examine the precious gifts of my tiny garden. With our many travels of the last few years, I’ve had little time to keep up our plants and flower beds. However, strategic surprises have met me on my garden walks...
Today, my gift is the beautifully fragrant blossom of our lilac bush. We planted this baby lilac in a pot during our first spring together as husband and wife. When we moved to our house, we transplanted it to the flower bed on the back side of the house. This lovely bush—while in desperate need of some trimming—has grown to about 10 times the size of its original height. I can smell the delightful aroma of its blossoms from 3 feet away. It’s refreshing, inspiring, and so full of promise.
Whatever man has built by the arm of the flesh will not withstand the breath of God’s Spirit. Much will die in this hour—whether willingly upon the altar of sacrifice or unwillingly through unrepentance.
What a poignant reminder of God’s eternal truth in this unprecedented time—all of man’s kingdoms will be pulled out, torn down, and destroyed, but in their place would rise the replanting and rebuilding of God’s glorious Kingdom. Whatever man has built by the arm of the flesh will not withstand the breath of God’s Spirit. Much will die in this hour—whether willingly upon the altar of sacrifice or unwillingly through unrepentance. But for the faithful few—the humble ones who have discerned the times and chosen to open the door of their hearts to the Master—there remains an extraordinary and powerful hope: God will replant and rebuild, and His glory will bring forth resurrected life.
PRAYER FROM THE GARDEN
Thank You, dear Lord, for the little treasures in my garden—including this overgrown lilac bush that has confirmed Your Word to me. You are a faithful Father, and I know You have planned a bright and hopeful future ahead.
I ask You to show me areas in my life that don’t align with Your perfect will and plan. I willingly submit my heart to You, Lord. Have Your way and mold me to Your desires. May I come into Your perfect alignment!
I thank You for Your resurrection life flowing into me as I am filled with Your vision for the future. I thank You for caring for me just like You care for the flowers of the field. You are forever welcome in my home, for I have chosen to sup with You, and You with me...
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
